I’ve got a quick update here to a link I shared here three weeks ago. Productivity and quality nonprofit group APQC’s Senior Project Manager Darcy Lemons was kind enough to answer my question on how a company might get $20,000 worth of value out of participation in her group’s study:
The “Advances in Social Networking and Expertise Location” study will focus on the best practices in place at partner organizations IBM, MITRE, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Rockwell Collins, and Sun Microsystems.
• You walk away from the study with a list of proven, actionable best practices that you can adapt and implement at your organization.
• The in-depth site visits at the partner organizations help you understand the best practices in context. You learn firsthand from organizations that are achieving what you want to achieve, and you get the chance to ask questions of experienced practitioners.
• The knowledge transfer session at the conclusion of the study brings all the findings together and helps you establish a network of peers for ongoing communication and implementation assistance……The ROI that a particular organization can expect is based on what it is trying to achieve and the way in which it integrates the best practices into its business.
I’d like to thank Ms. Lemons for taking the time to write up a convincing response to my question. If your organization is interested in meeting and exceeding the knowledge management standards set by world-class companies like IBM and Sun then this seems like a comfortably mediated way to initiate a relationship with those groups. If you or your organization are interested in participating you can get more information from Ms. Lemons herself at this link: KMEdge.
