I took my newfound interests in collaborative media offline this morning and drove to the August meetup for Social Media Breakfast – Memphis. Local friend Justin recommended that I attend earlier this week and I am very glad I found the time to do so.
This group of 50 or so like-minded individuals gets together once a month here in Memphis to share their experiences with social media. Justin gave a presentation on RSS tools that gave me some new ideas about how to better use twitter. The session was ably led by coordinator Dave Barger of local web services company Lunaweb. Dave helped us all through discussions on LinkedIn, twitter, and other social media tools. Here’s another writeup on the event from Bob Hazlett who shared a bit about OpenSocial and the power of twitter to improve customer service from giant corporations like Comcast.
I’m looking forward to the September breakfast and having fun linking up with new friends online.
