This morning’s Social Media (Expedition) Breakfast featured over FIFTY people! The last time I attended we had closer to fifteen. This group is very loud and energetic and it sounds like we’ll be splitting up into a few new groups respectively targeted at advanced and new social media users. I’ll probably try to attend both groups as much as possible because I don’t want to miss the chance to meet new folks.
Recap
Both @blakepalmer and @onehalfamazing did some on the spot video interviews. @jorendorff from Mozilla Corporation gave a great presentation about his company’s free browser and some social media extensions available for it. I’m hoping to see Blake’s and Bob’s videos online shortly and it would be great to get a copy of Jason’s presentation on Slideshare or Google Docs. @joespake and @lalunablanca both live-tweeted the event with photos of Jason’s presentation.
I was surprised to meet someone who works with my employer at the event. She and I had a good time talking about social media strategies for marketing directly to technology executives. I figure LinkedIn is the best bet for that particular business need and I’m writing up another post about that right now. The great thing about that particular conversation is that it sprung up out of a small-group conversation that was ostensibly about social media on mobile devices.
Next breakfast: 1/7/2009
Next time I’d love to hear some presentations from some of the interesting women who attend regularly like Beth, Maurrean, Susan, Debbie, and Carolyn! I appreciated the opportunity to present at a previous breakfast but different perspectives always help me out, especially from people with businesses I haven’t heard enough about.
I’m excited about the continued growth of this group and Dave’s hints at developing a ‘Social Media Expedition’ group out of the SMB attendees. Be sure and get on the list for next month – it won’t be long before we’ll have to start turning people away or having these things in stadiums or something. Thanks as always to LunaWeb for hosting the event.
Recaps on other blogs:
